SOLDBlue and Brown Huswife

A huswife originated as a cloth sewing kit used by soldiers during the civil war. It usually held things like thread, needles, extra cloth, and thimbles. Blues and browns were so common together during colonial times so I had to use them to create this huswife. In this huswife you’ll find a small pocket, bone rings to hold your floss, a wool snippet to hold your pins and needles, a few bronze charms, and a vintage button card. I also used some vintage trim and a brown bone ring for the closure. It is approximately 13.5” x 6”. Kindly asking $95.00 and $10.00 for travel fare.

SOLDAutumn Ditty Bag

I’ve said so many times how much I really enjoy making ditty bags and this time was no exception! This one was stitched using a snippet of a pattern by Blackbird Designs. I used linen by Dixie Sampler and several different fall prints from my stash. As with most hand-dyed linens there can be mottling and uneven lines in the linen. This linen has dye lines going through the middle of the bag making it even more primitive. I added a sunflower charm, crow charm, and a couple of died bones rings. The bag is approximately 6.5” x 5” and the straps add an additional 16” to the length. Kindly asking $48.00 and $10.00 for travel fare.

SOLDBlue Paisley Pincushion

This pinkeep is perfect for summer stitching! It was made with coordinating paisley prints. It is approximately 4” square and 1 1/2” thick and is firmly stuffed with crushed walnut shells. The strawberry is firmly attached and has an antique bone ring on its cap. I added two wool scalloped flowers, one blue and one cream. I also added scissors and heart charms and matching black straight pins and a really sweet tomato pin. Kindly asking 47.00 and 9.50 for travel fare.

SOLDBlue Striped Ditty Bag

One of my favorite finishes to do is ditty bags! I couldn’t resist making this one for the summer season. It was made using a blue striped woven fabric from my stash and has a pretty vintage red print for the lining. I added a red wool flower with an antique bone button in the center and some sweet charms and beads. It measures approximately 6” x 7.5” for a total length of 16” with the straps. What’s not to love about bunnies? I’ve been seeing lots of little bunnies hop and scurry around my yard lately and really love watching them! I couldn’t resist stitching and creating this vintage looking huswife after seeing so many little ones outside my windows. The huswife is 13” long x 4” wide. I added extra padding so it can hang nicely or fold. There is an antique bone ring firmly stitched to the top for hanging and a strip of wool that is stitched down the center for your pins and needles. How sweet are these tiny bunnies?! I really enjoyed stitching this one. I used a beautiful French General fabric from my stash for the side and bottom and stitched some tiny cross stitches around the top and bottom edge. I added some glass-head pins to the top along with Mother of Pearl buttons, an antique pink glass swirl pin, and a tiny wool strawberry. Strength in Pink Stitcher’s Box

I originally made a stitcher’s box for myself because I was tired of searching through my notions bag for what I needed. I loved mine so much I decided to make more to sell. This was made using the Strength in Pink fabric by Riley Blake Designs. I’ve included a beeswax bar, two handmade pins, tiny scissors, a tube for holding your needles, a pink ribbon needle minder, and a small glass jar with mother of pearl buttons. On the back of the box is a hidden magnet for your needles. It has two side compartments and the box closes securely with a zipper. It measures 7” x 4” x 2”.
