***SOLD***Red and Black Huswife

A huswife originated as a cloth sewing kit used by soldiers during the civil war. It usually held things like thread, needles, extra cloth, and thimbles. I’ve always loved the colors red and black together so of course when I saw this gorgeous red fabric I had to use it to create my huswife. In this huswife you’ll find a small pocket, bone rings to hold your floss, a wool snippet to hold your pins and needles, a few silver charms, and a reproduction post card. I also used some vintage trim and a black bone ring for the closure. It is approximately 13.5” x 6”. Kindly asking $95.00 and $10.00 for travel fare.

***SOLD***Autumn Ditty Bag

I’ve said so many times how much I really enjoy making ditty bags and this time was no exception! This one was stitched using a snippet of a pattern by Blackbird Designs. I used linen by Dixie Sampler and several different fall prints from my stash. As with most hand-dyed linens there can be mottling and uneven lines in the linen. This linen has dye lines going through the middle of the bag making it even more primitive. I added a sunflower charm, crow charm, and a couple of died bones rings. The bag is approximately 6.5” x 5” and the straps add an additional 16” to the length. Kindly asking $48.00 and $10.00 for travel fare.

***SOLD***Hats Off Pinkeep Drum

I love this design by Blackbird Designs so much I had to stitch it again. I stitched it on Picture This Plus Murky linen using the called for colors. It is approximately 3.5” wide by 2.5” tall. To the top, I added a silver eagle with red, white, and blue buttons, three black straight pins, and two glass-head pins. I stitched three tiny beads to the center of each flower. It is firmly stuffed with sawdust to keep your pins and needles sharp. For the side and bottom I used a beautiful patriotic red fabric with stars and waving flags. I added a contrast ric-rac around the top edge. Kindly asking $85.00 and $15.00 for travel fare.
