My primitive belsnickles are one of my favorite things I create each year. The face is paperclay molded from a vintage mold. It’s attached to a stump muslin body, and painted. I’ve used beautiful hand dyed shaggy vintage mohair for the coat and hat. He carries a brass bell and little bleached and dyed tree. His waist is tied with a jute cord and a woolen scarf is wrapped at the neck. A rusty jingle bell is stitched to the tip of the hat. He stands on a chunky stained wooden base. I’ve created this beautiful olde timey Santa with a paperclay face I've molded from a vintage mold. He has handpainted features. He’s dressed in wool trousers, jacket and hat. His scarf is wool and his tummy is wrapped with twine. He carries a chenille candy cane and a walking stick. He's sitting on my hand done prim reindeer. I've stitched the reindeer from muslin, stuffed firmly, painted and aged for an olde timey appearance. It has beady eyes, rusty bell nose, stitched mouth, wool collar, and large brass bell. Legs are stitched firmly in place and Matt created the perfect chunky barnwood base for it. He’s just about 13 inches tall and 10 inches long. He will come signed and dated.
