Primitive Mohair Belsnickle My primitive belsnickle santas are one of my favorite things I create each year. The face is paperclay molded from a vintage mold. It’s attached to a stump muslin body, and painted. I’ve used hand dyed vintage mohair for the coat and hat. He carries a brass bell and other Christmas accents as pictured. His waist is tied with a jute cord and a woolen scarf is wrapped at the neck. A rusty jingle bell is stitched to the tip of the hat. He stands on a chunky stained wooden base. I’ve created this beautiful olde timey Santa for Valentines day. His face is hand sculpted paperclay. He has handpainted features and churro beard and hair. He’s dressed in white mohair coat and hood, both trimmed in red wool. His trousers are striped ticking. His scarf is a braid of white wool and his tummy is wrapped with red tinsel. A silver bell dangles from his waist, he carries a short wool heart, and a wooley pine tree is tucked in his belt. He’s about 14 inches tall. … He will come signed and dated. SOLD Prim Clay Faced Santa Claus Star

I've created this primitive star from holiday coverlet fabric and added on of my sculpted clay santa claus faces. I’ve aged the face deeply and added churro wool beard and hair. The hat is wool trimmed flannel with rusty bell sewn to the tip. A cord hanger is attached at the top. About 8 inches x 11 inches.
