Completely assembled and stitched by hand, this square wool penny mat makes a wonderful addition to an antique table or on the back of an upholstered piece of furniture. Completely comprised of 100% wool, this mat consists of 36 (triple) sets of wool pennies that have been buttonhole stitched together, then the penny stacks are buttonhole stitched to a black scalloped wool background, which is stitched to a mustard background and finally the mat is stitched to a black wool background. To complete this mat, the reverse side is finished off with a solid black backing. For added interest, each outer corner has been dog-eared/folded forward and attached with buttons. This pumpkin mat ate all of her veggies growing up.....she is large, measuring a full 22" in diameter!! The outer-most fabric is a mottled cotton and the scalloped black background is black wool. All the pumpkins and leaves are 100% wool and the details have been hand-embroidered. For the back of this piece, I chose a cotton fabric that has a distressed orange/rust background with faded leaves. You can flip this mat over and use the reverse side as a second option! This metal and wood antique seed scoop is the holder of a Fall pumpkin. Using Valdani variegated threads, I punched this pumpkin through a harvest gold piece of wool and finished off the back with distressed fabric. This pumpkin is affixed to the scoop with magnets; therefore, the stitched piece may be removed to use the scoop in a different way for other groupings.
