Preserving our fiber history...one stitch at a time ...
Welcome to Vintage Threads and Loops!
Hello! My name is Tammy Ruiz and I’m a fourth-generation crafter located in Western NY.
When in my happy place, there is always some type of fiber and a needle or hook in my hand. Through the years, I've found that my preference tends to be “unplugged” with my go-to’s being mostly all hand work such as hand quilting, punch needle, rug hooking, rug braiding, repro antique samplers and wool applique.
Having a vintage style, collecting antique items and attaching a stitched piece to them is also a fun hobby of mine. Whether it be through creating, collecting or decorating, may you also receive as much joy preserving our fiber history!
For your consideration is this accent spool lamp. This lamp is comprised of a large antique spool with seven threaded antique spools surrounding the large spool, secured by a ribbon and topped with the lampshade. This lamp measures 20 1/2" tall and the base measures 5 3/4" wide.

Completely assembled and stitched by hand, this square wool penny mat makes a wonderful addition to an antique table or on the back of an upholstered piece of furniture. Completely comprised of 100% wool, this mat consists of 36 (triple) sets of wool pennies that have been buttonhole stitched together, then the penny stacks are buttonhole stitched to a black scalloped wool background, which is stitched to a mustard background and finally the mat is stitched to a black wool background. To complete this mat, the reverse side is finished off with a solid black backing.
For added interest, each outer corner has been dog-eared/folded forward and attached with buttons. Shipping will be added upon purchase.
Payment method: Venmo, please.

This simple "1803" cross stitch sampler was stitched on a slightly distressed/aged linen. The professional finish is in an 16"W x 12.5"H ridged wooden frame (no glass) and enclosed on the back side with a wire hanger. From my home to yours, what type of grouping will you choose for this piece?

Wouldn't this be a nice pin attached to the lapel or collar of your sweater or winter coat??
Or, it could be pinned to a book bag or project bag for the Winter season. This pin would also be a nice gift to enclose into a greeting card or take to the host of someone's home you will be visiting.
This piece is a candle print which was transferred onto duck's cloth and then I frayed all four sides of the fabric. The fabric is then secured under a beveled glass, a birch backing covered with newspaper print was used to finish the back. The front and back of the pin is wrapped with copper and then I added a finish to create a patina/vintage look. To complete the project, I then added a pin bar to the back. This pin measures 1.5" x 1.5" square. Price: $22.50 + travel.
