I love this drawing by Robin Leuschen of Bird in the Hand Primitives, which inspired me to create this charming little mat with a wool scalloped border. The background fabric features a lovely hand-dyed linen by Blackberry Primitives.
The banner is made from hand-dyed linen, and the words "Warm Woolen Mittens" are handwritten. The branches are stitched with Valdani threads using a stem stitch. The mittens, holly leaves, and berries are crafted from hand-dyed wool and stitched in place with a straight stitch. The berries are secured with French knots.
The mat is stitched together using a blanket stitch and additional French knots. It measures 9 ½ inches by 6 ½ inches, and the back is made from super soft brown flannel. Shipping is included in the price.
