I love finding old button strings when I'm sifting through button collections, so I thought I'd create a doll treasuring one between her hands. The cotton string is displaying 6 precious vintage buttons for safe keeping. The doll is made from old cotton fabric from my stash and is stuffed with scraps of cotton so feels just right. Her face is stitched on complete with rosy cheeks. Her hair is a piece of wool roving stitched onto her head. Her dress is made from a civil war repro cotton. If you look close you will see that "when she was new" she had two buttons on her dress but one has since fallen off. Maybe that's why she's holding so tightly to her button string. Her body and dress have been aged and so you will see little worn spots adding character to her little primitive spirit. She is signed by me, the maker. Measures 9.5" long.
