Click on image to see more views. This beautiful and large Beeswax Folk Art Casting was created by me from a VERY old antique European wooden mold, most likely German. Blackened beeswax has been dusted with cinnamon to bring out the details and give the piece a wonderful fragrance and primitive appeal. It's a difficult piece to mold due to the fact that a border has to be created around the original wooden mold to hold the hot liquid beeswax in place and it's difficult to unmold without damaging the mold itself.. As a result, only one is available at this time! Highly detailed and a very old primitive mold, this rare design measures 13" long and nearly 9" wide. Large molds such as these were used to impart beautiful designs to cakes and large springerle cookies. The back is papered in thick antique paper from the 1800's with beautiful French script. A heavy twine hanger and care tag are included. The original antique mold is shown with the casting so you can see how beautiful it really is. Truly a rare and delightfully primitive Spinner Lady!
