My primitive belsnickles are one of my favorite things I create each year. The face is paperclay molded from a vintage mold. It’s attached to a stump muslin body, and painted. I’ve used beautiful hand dyed shaggy vintage mohair for the coat and hat. He carries a brass bell and little bleached and dyed tree. His waist is tied with a jute cord and a woolen scarf is wrapped at the neck. A rusty jingle bell is stitched to the tip of the hat. He stands on a chunky stained wooden base.
