Spring has finally arrived and the tulips are in bloom here in Wisconsin, a welcome to Spring. This reminds us to appreciate Mother Nature and all of her wonderful works of art in their simplest forms: the sky, trees, flowers, and butterflies. Part of a 12 Design series this pillow is handstitched wool applique on a durable homespun background. It is one of my original designs created for Lily Anna Stitches. This 17" x 17" originally designed mini quilt has been inspired from oriental style and color combinations, and reflects on the sentiments of when I traveled to China to adopt my daughter Lily Anna. The coins are machine stitched with Andover quilting fabric and handstitched to a wool background. The flowers are handstitched wool appliques along with hand embroidered vines.
