This artwork is handmade, hand cut, and hand woven using a variety of old papers.
The background paper is the original white moire textured paper that was in the frame.
The hand is cut from paper that I salvaged off the back of an old art print. The ring is a snippet of tarnished silver metallic paper that came from a 1930s Christmas card.
I used a copy of a 1700s indentured servant letter for the heart.
An 1800s French document was used for the cuff.
This late 1800s frame has lost most of the velvet, but when you open the doors, you can still see the lovely deep blue color.
The wire easel was missing from the back, so I made a wire loop for hanging the love token. You could tie an antique ribbon on the loop for added decoration. This could also lean on a shelf or be placed on an easel.
It is signed and dated on the back.
Size: 6 1/4” x 8 1/4”

I’ve painted for years, and I’ve made quilts for years… so why not combine my passions and make barn quilts? I began making these to work up to making some large pieces for our barn and the front porch. Choosing designs and color combinations are addictive! The possibilities are endless!
This is aged with a country, folk art, primitive home in mind. Maybe you’d like to start a barn quilt collection on a gallery wall in your farmhouse or cabin? Wouldn’t these look awesome in the increasingly popular barndominiums?!
It takes quite a few steps in making these barn quilts. Cut the boards and frame strips, sand everything. Draft the pattern, tape off, paint, tape off again, paint, over and over till all colors are painted. Sand again, age / stain, sand again if needed, stain again if needed. Apply the frame, touch up any cut edges that need stain. Apply hanger, label the back. Finished! Oh, wait… now to set up and photograph for the website!
I’ve titled, signed, and dated on the back. The names are based on researching Barbara Brackman’s extensive Encyclopedia of Pieced Quilt Patterns book. When nothing is an exact match, I choose the closest thing to it.
A sawtooth hanger is attached for hanging.
Indoor use only.
Design / colors: Shooting Star, Economy Block variation / sky blue, teal blue, barn red
Size: 10 3/4” square
