I used a pattern I drafted several years ago for him. "Barnaby" is excited to find his forever home. He has been having lots of conversations with the other bears, but still a bit reticent about traveling in a box. They assured him all would be fine; he just needed to take plenty of chocolate for his journey. I used German mohair in 2 different colours for "Barnaby". I love this combination! His nose and mouth are hand stitched. He has beautiful handmade glass eyes. I used a brown with cream flower print for the insides of his ears. I gave him some subtle hand shading here, and there to give him more of an "old bear" look. I added silk sari ribbons around his neck, and stitched on a 3 rusty jingle bells. He is all lovingly hand sewn, and generously and firmly rag stuffed with some steel shot added for weight. He is a heavier bear weighing in at nearly 2 pounds. I like the substantiall feel he has. His head is firmly stuffed with a good poly fill for dimension. His head, arms, and legs are all stitched into place. He sits well on his own. I so love bringing these bears to life. I have the idea in my head, but never know quite what they will look like when finished. "Barnaby" measures about 12 inches to the top of his ears, and about 9 inches at his widest point.
